Tour organizers do not compare to travel agencies. We do not merely buy, re-package and sell journeys but have plenty of other things to do. Actually, we are on the road ourselves quite a bit and do not just spend time in the office. Equipment and tents have to be checked, the archive of maps needs updating, numerous times we are at the airport to see off groups or welcome them back home, we have meetings with air lines and go on expeditions and develop pilot tours through desert and savanah…all this – and more – is part of our work.
So if nobody picks up the phone, do not think ‘Oops, they’ve packed it.’
We try our best to maintain office hours between 9.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. and often we are available outside these hours as well.

SUNTOURS GmbH was founded in 1981 and is located in Langgöns-Dornholzhausen/Hessen.
We mainly focus on the following four regions: the Sahara desert, the Maghreb, the Sahel and southern Africa – each with its specific and impressive beauty. Also, these regions represent the variety of our destinations. In fact, the contrast could not be sharper. Experience absolute silence in the vast Sahara desert or dive into the colourful swirl of west African markets. Observe the rich wildlife in the southern parts of Africa, discover the mountains and beaches of Morocco or visit the rock art, carvings and paintings of central Sahara. Enjoy a comfortable 4-wheel drive through Namibia or sail on the Chobe River. Each trip offers plenty of opportunities to meet local people and learn about their ways of life and their environment.
Close to our heart are trips on camel back, the so-called méharées. This is a very intensive way of travelling and allows a special experience of the different landscapes. We offer beginner tours in southern Tunisia and Morocco as well as trips for the more experienced that lead us deep into the Sahara desert.
Travelling by 4WD means covering large distances and seeing a broad variety of landscapes. Find out what suits you best. Of course you are always welcome to contact us for further information and advice.
The groups consist of maximum 12 people and due to the special character of the destinations each participant needs a certain degree of willingness to cooperate and assist others.
